Position DescriptionThe School Health Program of the Metro Public Health Department is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to work in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. This is your chance to work in a program that supports our Metro Nashville Public Schools by providing nursing services in Metro Nashville / Davidson County Schools.This Public Health Nurse position will work in the Metro Nashville/Davidson County Schools on a part time as needed basis.If you have any questions about this position please contact MPHD HR at (615)-340-5640.Typical Duties* Provide nursing services in Metro Nashville / Davidson County Schools.* Evaluate the health needs in assigned schools.* Provide effective skilled nursing services.* Provide or arrange for selected screenings and assessments.* Provide care coordination/case management.* Provide generalized health services.* Implement medication distribution system.* Maintain student health records.* Performs related duties.Minimum Qualifications* Bachelor’s degree from a state approved school of nursing strongly preferred; or Bachelor’s degree in another discipline and a Master’s degree from a state approved school of nursing preferred.* Diploma or Associates Degree in nursing combined with a documented ability to competently perform all functions of this classification may be considered.* All public health nurses are required to complete a department approved Certificate in Public Health as a condition of continued employment. Possess required competencies upon hiring.* Licensed or eligible for RN licensure in Tennessee.* Valid class “D” driver’s license, use of personal vehicle, and maintenance of valid personal vehicle insurance as required by Tennessee Law.Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Government’s employment-based immigration programs.MPHD seeks to be a socially and culturally responsive organization that acknowledges and addresses historical and current inequities in our public health promotion and practice.
