Unit Description: NICU Level II
This 12-bed nursery provides special care to neonates with gestational ages of 32 weeks to full-term. With a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:3, staff in this unit attend to high-risk deliveries. Equipment used includes OxyCRG Monitor, Neo Blue Bili Light, Bili Blankets, IV and syringe pumps, CPAP and HFNC. All nurses on staff have Level 2 Nursery or NICU experience, and all are NRP-, CPR-, and STABLE-certified.

Position Description
This position, under the supervision of the Supervisor or Charge Nurse coordinates and provides patient care. This care includes conducting initial and ongoing assessment of the patient and family, development of an individualized patient care plan, family centered patient teaching, the identification of and correction of variances from the patient care plan and the facilitation of discharge planning and teaching. Patient census may include neonates requiring assistance with transitioning to extra-uterine life.

Qualifications

Education & Experience
Required:
Graduation from a NLN accredited school of nursing
One year experience in well-baby nursery

Preferred:
BSN

NICU: One year experience in Level 2 or 3 nursery.
Newborn: One year experience in acute care setting.

License & Certifications
Required:
Licensed in the state of Texas as RN
AHA BLS at time of hire
NRP w/in 6 months of hire.

If your compact license is from a state besides Texas, you will be required to obtain a TX Nursing License within 90 days after your start date.

Preferred:
Certification in area of specialty.
