WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday-Friday: 8:00am-5:00pm

JOB SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst collaborates with various stakeholders and subject matter experts from different backgrounds (clinical, business, technical) to elicit, define, and document business requirements and operational workflows for application development. Their work products contribute to the design and development of software that assists in facilitating the exchange of healthcare and business information across systems for internal and external customers. The Business Analyst plays a critical role on the software development team to ensure that delivered products meets user requirements. Throughout a project, the Business Analyst serves as a champion for the change and its implementation for the stakeholder.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work independently to define Project Owner’s requirements for function and process modifications.
  • Facilitate agreement between business and IT on scope and timing of system enhancements.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications – verbally or through written documentation to directors, project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders
  • Meet with decision makers, system owners, and end users to define business, financial and operational requirements and system goals.
  • Expand or modify system to serve new purposes or to improve work flow.
  • Gain approval of projects by defining the business value of the proposed application change.
  • Develop expertise on business processes and uses to recommend system enhancements to gain efficiencies in common usage.
  • Identify opportunities for improving business processes through information or manual systems and assists in the creation of the proposals for those improvements.
  • Assume responsibility for tracking of projects and providing frequent status updates to leadership.
  • Manage the project team through both formal (project plans, issue tracking, accountability to timelines) and informal (recurring meetings/calls, transparent communication, meeting agendas and minutes) means, depending on size and complexity of the project.
  • Escalate more complex issues/conflicts to management as needed.
  • Assist developers and analysts (QA, interface) with understanding business process flows and translating those flows into system requirements.
  • Document processes completely following an appropriate template. Ensure successful documentation is complete on or before deadline and does not need to be revised due to ambiguity.
  • Follow industry best practices and regulatory guidelines to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of protected health information (PHI) and other sensitive company data.
  • Become familiar with and abides by the PathGroup Compliance Program and its corporate policies, including those surrounding Privacy and Security.

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works with other departments within PathGroup and subsidiaries.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & LICENSURE:

  • Minimum of a Baccalaureate degree plus five years’ experience in system development or equivalent education/experience is required.
  • CBAP (IIBA) or PBA (PMI) certification preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of prior Business Analyst job-related experience required, preferably in healthcare industry.
  • Must possess proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, business and process modeling, system development methodology.
  • Must possess strong analytical skills and the ability to reconcile initiatives with business strategies and goals.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills with the ability to prioritize workload and multi-task while maintaining a keen attention to detail is required.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong sense of accountability, confidence, and integrity
  • Must be highly self-motivated and directed, have strong customer service orientation to drive performance targets to completion.
